Healing Through Pictures

Today I'd like to share a special session that I did nearly a year ago. We became friends with Jenni and Caleb in college. Their second daughter, Emily, is just a month older than our Jake.

Last year, Jenni became pregnant with their third--another daughter. However, God needed sweet Evelyn in heaven, and the pregnancy ended too early. Their faith and hope expressed as they went through this heartbreaking time is inspirational. They were wrapped in love and support, and have returned that same love and support to their community and those around them.

Last October, their family participated in the JLB Walk to Remember. The JLB Project is a non-profit organization based in Flagstaff, Arizona that provides resources and bereavement services to families who have suffered infant loss (through miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, etc.). This walk was also a groundbreaking for the Children's Garden of Flagstaff, a memorial garden planted in memory of all angel babies.

When Jenni approached me about a "different kind of family portrait" and explained that she wanted me to document their walk, I was 100% on board. These are the moments that will mean the most in the course of a lifetime. It was an honor to be with their family and to be part of their journey towards healing. With Jenni's permission, I want to share her words after seeing the pictures:

"Kylie,

Words cannot express how much I already love these photos. I knew I would love them and you have brought to life my vision of a perfect family picture. I wanted so badly to capture Evelyn with us this year and you have done it perfectly wit the stars, the names, and capturing our girls' personalities. Thank you for being willing to do it. I absolutely love them.

We bought our house a year ago and we found out we were going to lose Evelyn less than 2 months later. I have never hung any pictures in our house since then because I felt like she was missing. I finally feel good about hanging family pictures in our house and I am so grateful for that. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with our family and being willing to do the event with us. The pictures are priceless. Thank you so much.

Love,

Jenni"

I'm happy to report that Jenni is now expecting their fourth daughter, who will be born next month. I'm so happy for them and their rainbow baby, who I'm sure is enjoying some special sister time with their angel. I hope these pictures touch your heart, and that you can feel the love and grace of the Boone family.
